Dataset description

This dataset was developed as part of a systematic literature review investigating the barriers and drivers affecting the integration of sustainability across the building life cycle. The review was conducted using academic databases, such as Scopus and Web of Science, and focused exclusively on peer-reviewed Q1 journal articles. Studies from sectors other than the building and construction industry were excluded through a predefined screening and eligibility process.

A total of 49 journal articles were selected for analysis based on established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data extracted from the selected studies include publication information, research context, identified barriers, identified drivers, and factors influencing sustainability integration throughout the building life cycle.

The dataset provides a structured synthesis of the current body of knowledge and supports the identification and categorisation of factors that facilitate circularity and decarbonisation integration in buildings. It may be reused by researchers, practitioners, and policymakers interested in sustainable construction, life cycle management, and sustainability transitions within the built environment
