Dataset description

This dataset is the supplementary material for the thesis: INVESTIGATING THE EVOLUTIONARY ORIGINS OF CALCIUM SIGNALLING PROTEINS. The data is divided into four parent folders which represent three results chapters and a future work chapter. Chapter 2 is a method development chapter using Aspartate 1-Decaboxylase (PanD) as a target. Chapters 3 and 4 are individual bioinformatics-driven case studies of proteins that are involved in calcium signalling, namely ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs) and calmodulin (CaM) respectively. Chapter 2 contains scripts used throughout the project in the bioinformatics pipeline, and phylogenetic results. Chapter 3 contains phylogenetic analysis results for iGluRs as well as Molecular Dynamics and Statistical Coupling Analysis results. Chapter 4 contains phylogenetic analysis results for CaM and experimental results using various Nuclear Magnetic Resonance techniques for structural elucidation.
