Dataset description

This is the data presented and analysed in Daily et al, 2026: “Ice-nucleating particle and cloud ice crystal concentrations associated with developing summertime deep convective clouds in south-western USA” Journal of Geophysical Research (Atmospheres), DOI: 10.1029/2024JD043236. It contains aerosol filter and cloud ice crystal concentration data collected from the UK’s FAAM airborne laboratory BAe-146 aircraft as part of the 2022 DCMEX campaign in New Mexico, USA. The dataset contains the filter sampling metadata, INP concentrations (both concentrations and freezing temperatures obtained in the experiments from sampling runs and handling blanks) and SEM-EDS data (size distributions from both SEM and optical probes, as well as EDS size-resolved composition fractions). Also contained are the cloud penetration and ice crystal number concentration data collected using an underwing HVPS-3 hydrometer imaging probe.
