Dataset description
A third generation Toyota Prius has been tracked over 480 miles of city centre driving in Leeds, UK. The vehicle was equipped with GPS tracking (Racelogic VBOX Lite) and CAN (HEM mini logger) data loggers recording around 40 internal and external vehicle parameters, including vehicle fuel consumption and energy flows through the electrical system. The vehicle was driven multiple times over four test routes designed to represent common taxi driving. A single driver performed all vehicle testing. To study the effect of driving style the driver was instructed to perform multiple runs using a calm (car in eco-mode setting), normal (car in default setting), or aggressive (car in power-mode setting) driving style. Data from both sets of equipment has been time aligned, fused together and supplemented with road gradient calculated in ArcGIS from a digital surface model to provide an accurate calculation of vehicle tractive power demand. The processed and raw data, along with supporting meta information/ texts are available for researchers working on real driving behaviour, hybrid vehicles, the Toyota Prius and taxi operations. The University of Leeds is open to future collaborations to support the creation of new databases using the instrumented hybrid research car.
