1 Introduction

The Consumer healthy eating and wellbeing collection contains data collected from surveys carried out between 2019 and 2021. There were five different surveys carried out during this period that aimed at examining different aspects of healthy eating and food wellbeing.

4 Data set description

There are currently five datasets each available as individual excel .xlsx files. Each file consists of two spreadsheets, one with the data and other other with a Key with a description of each question. Further details can be found by going to the weblinks for each dataset.

4.1 Consumer Healthy Eating 2019

This dataset contains data on perceived compliance to the UK Eatwell guide (15 items) and food consumption (11 items) from a survey in 2019 of UK consumers (n=301). Demographic data (Type of Diet, Ethnicity, Gender and Age) and exercise duration were also collected.

4.2 Consumer Healthy Eating and Wellbeing 2020

This dataset contains data on perceived compliance to the UK Eatwell guide (15 items) and food wellbeing (20 items) from a survey in 2020 of UK consumers (n=258) . Demographic data (Type of Diet, Ethnicity, Gender and Age) and (perceived health, Mental health and exercise frequency) were also collected.

4.3 Consumer Healthy Eating 2020

This dataset contains data on perceived compliance to the UK Eatwell guide (19 items) from a survey in 2020 of UK consumers (n=565). The original 15 item (Q1-Q15) Eatwell guide questionnaire was developed from the UK Eatwell guide (Public Health England 2018), with 4 additional items (Q16-Q19) added after examining the Vegetarian Eatwell guide (Vegetarian Society of the United Kingdom 2018) and the Vegan Eatwell guide (Vegan Society 2020). Demographic data (Type of Diet, Ethnicity, Gender and Age), Food consumption frequency (6 items) and Diet and diet choice ( 2 items) were also collected.

4.4 Consumer Healthy Eating 2021

This dataset contains data on perceived compliance to the UK Eatwell guide (19 items) from a survey in 2021 of UK consumers (n=415). The original 15 item (Q1-Q15) Eatwell guide questionnaire was developed from the UK Eatwell guide (Public Health England 2018), with 4 additional items (Q16-Q19) added after examining the Vegetarian Eatwell guide (Vegetarian Society of the United Kingdom 2018) and the Vegan Eatwell guide (Vegan Society 2020). Additional scales for eating healthy foods were from Norman et al. (2010), which include Change strategies (15 items), Enjoyment (7 items) and Environment (4 items). Demographic data (Type of Diet, Ethnicity, Gender and Age).

4.5 Consumer Healthy Eating and wellbeing 2021

This dataset contains data on perceived compliance to the UK Eatwell guide (19 items) and food wellbeing (20 items) from a survey in 2021 of UK consumers (n=409). The original 15 item (Q1-Q15) Eatwell guide questionnaire was developed from the UK Eatwell guide (Public Health England 2018), with 4 additional items (Q16-Q19) added after examining the Vegetarian Eatwell guide (Vegetarian Society of the United Kingdom 2018) and the Vegan Eatwell guide (Vegan Society 2020). Other variables include Snacking choice (3 items), Snacking practice (2 items), Packaging (3 items), eating behaviour (3 items). Demographic data (Type of Diet, Ethnicity, Gender and Age) and (perceived health, Mental health and exercise frequency) were also collected.
