PROJECT AND FUNDING INFORMATION ---------------------------------- Title: Spatial energy footprints Dates: 2018-2023 Funding organisation: ESRC Grant no.: ES/S50161X/1 4. CONTENTS ----------- File listing England_MSOA_2015-2016.csv If relevant, include here any codebook or data dictionary for the dataset or constituent files, providing the following information as required: - 309 variables; of these 1 variable contains English MSOA codes from the 2011 census, 307 variables contain GHG emissions in tCO2e/capita for different products and services, 1 variable contains MSOA populations - 6791 MSOAs in England are covered (using 2011 census geographies) 5. METHODS ---------- These consumption-based neighbourhood emissions are calculated using an environmentally-extended multi-regional input output analysis. Emission estimates provided here contain both indirect emissions which occur throughout the supply chain globally and direct emissions from the burning of fuel for personal transport use (e.g. private cars). The multi-regional input-output database used to calculate product-level household emissions for the UK in the current research is the UKMRIO model from the year 2015 [1–3]. The greenhouse gases included in the UKMRIO are carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) and nitrogen trifluoride (NF3). All of these are converted into their carbon equivalents (CO2e). We use household expenditure data from the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 Living Costs and Food Survey [4,5]. To generate neighbourhood expenditure profiles from the surveys we follow the method used by Kilian et al. [6]. References: 1.
