The mechanical properties of the mantle muscle of European cuttlefish (Sepia officials) - data

Gladman, Nicholas W. and Askew, Graham N. (2022) The mechanical properties of the mantle muscle of European cuttlefish (Sepia officials) - data. University of Leeds. [Dataset] https://doi.org/10.5518/1271

Dataset description

These data relate to an investigation into the contractile porperties of the mantle muscle of juvenile and adult cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis). It is demonstrated that a slowing of muscle contraction kinetics during development underlies the shift in optimal frequency for maximal power output during jet propulsion swimming.
