Dataset description

This dataset contains qualitative interview transcripts, obtained from 10 semi-structured interviews with a purposively diverse sample of adult inpatients with cystic fibrosis (CF) attending a single regional adult CF centre in the UK. The participants were 5 females and 5 males aged 19-30 years who had all been diagnosed with CF in early childhood, required pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy and had a routine two-week hospital admission for intravenous antibiotic therapy at the time of the study. Interviews were up to one-hour duration and conducted in patients own rooms on the ward. A topic guide was used flexibly to explore adults lived experiences of the CF gut, how they made sense of their experiences and how they learnt to manage the gut as they were growing up. We particularly aimed to explore what insights and explanations adults would tell their younger selves i.e. what they felt would be most helpful to share with children with CF.
